Melbourne hardcore outfit Iron Mind are gearing up to head around the country with Terror next month. Hardcore lives in 2012. It has continued by a new generation of like-minded individuals with a strong dedication to a tradition of those that have come before them. Enter New York’s Backtrack who will be heading to Australia this January, bringing their classic NYHC sound. Joining them around the country will be Melbourne’s masters of hard riffs, Iron Mind.
Since their inception in 2008, Backtrack have slowly built up their reputation as a NYHC powerhouse with constant touring across the Northern Hemisphere. Holding down the tradition established by the likes of Agnostic Front and Madball, the band has only recently released their highly anticipated album Darker Half through Reaper Records. In January, they make their way to Australia for the first time, trekking coast-to-coast to bring a new generation of hardcore Down Under. Fresh off the release of their new album, Hell Split Wide Open (available now through Dead Souls Records), Melbourne’s Iron Mind will continue the path of destruction they are leaving in the wake of shows played across the country, slowly converting each audience one at a time. Their old school take on hardcore has attracted the attention of hardcore fans of all ages, proving yet again that the future of Australian hardcore is well secure.
With this pairing of Backtrack and Iron Mind, there is nothing soft on offer throughout the January shows. There are no compromises, no apologies, just hardcore played with passion and dedication, as it should be. Welcome to the pound.

Iron Mind have announced a CD release tour in support of their new full length ‘Hell Split Wide Open’. The Hell Split Wide Open Tour will see the band head north from their native Melbourne for a run of shows with Warbrain next month. Catch them at Byron YAC on Saturday November 19th with Shackles & Survival.

Gold Coast arseholes Ghost Town have announced a few shows here and there lately, after having been relatively quiet for the last 6 months or so. The band last released ‘Calamities’ through Dead Souls Records in 2010 and toured a fair bit in support of the release.
