Hardcore Halloween 2011

50 Lions, In Hearts Wake, Hopeless, Relentless, Ghost Town, Fires Of Waco & Deceiver

With the absence of annual Hardcore & Punk events in the area in recent years, Hardcore Halloween will step it up in 2011 to display some of the finest artists currently on offer in the genre.

On the back of yet another successful European jaunt, 50 Lions will make a seasoned return to headline Hardcore Halloween. In 2009 the band firmly established themselves at the forefront of the Australian scene with ‘Where Life Expires’. Having since continued their run of solid releases and extensive touring the world over, the band will bring back their intense live performance to the event this year.

Main supports will include local metal dudes In Hearts Wake as well as Melbourne’s Hopeless. In Hearts Wake have cut their teeth playing shows in the area since 2006 and have since come into their own gaining a strong local following, landing impressive supports slots as well as showing a strong touring ethic. Hopeless have not slowed in proving themselves to be Melbourne’s most exciting hardcore export in recent years, with this year seeing the band finishing up an inaugural European tour. Showing an impressive touring history with several solid releases under their belt and another in the works, Hopeless will make the trip north to perform exclusively at Hardcore Halloween.

Not content with destroying venues in their own backyard, Sydney’s Relentless have endeavoured to tour as much as possible and in doing so have landed firmly at the top of the new generation of Hardcore bands emerging from their area. After a quiet 2011, Ghost Town will return to play Hardcore Halloween to show why they are still the most exciting band to emerge from the Gold Coast area in recent years. Rounding out the line up are Brisbane’s latest and greatest punk sensation Fires Of Waco as well as heavier up and coming north coast outfit, Deceiver.

Now in it’s 6th year with past line-ups including bands such as Parkway Drive & Carpathian, the event continues to grow confirming itself as a staple in both the Byron & surrounding areas. With a venue upgrade and a boosted line up, this proves to be the most exciting year yet. For the first time Byron Bay Hardcore will work with charity aid organisation ‘100 Shows For Haiti’, pledging $3 from every ticket sold to the cause.

In a double blow to the upcoming Parkway Drive “Mix N Mash” tour this May, both You Me At Six and Bleeding Through have withdrawn from the tour. Due to the bands extended recording schedule, You Me At Six will spend the next few weeks in the studio completing their new album.

Replacing them will be Ohio’s Miss May I. Formed in 2006, Miss May I started as a group of 16-year olds and is poised to be the new face of heavy music. Blending death metal, thrash and melodic hardcore, the band
released there sophomore album “Monuments” in 2010 and will spend the US summer on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour.

The Mix N Mash Tour

// February 21st, 2011 // No Comments » // Tours

Having toured together on the 2010 Warped Tour, Parkway Drive and UK’s You Me At Six clicked from the word go. It may have been a case of World Cup fever from watching many a game together or the friendly games of soccer the bands played themselves that bonded them, but one thing is for sure it was a shared outlook and attitude that brought the two groups together from the opposite sides of the globe and genre spectrum.

“I think the name of the tour says it all” says Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall. “When we first started going to shows we we’re stoked to be able to see a bunch of bands that we liked, but also that may not sound exactly the same. These days it seems every tour has become so stream lined to one particular sound you may as well be watching the same band play four or five times in a row”. “This tour has a bit of everything for anyone who like’s their music a little faster, a little more energetic, something local, something punk, something heavy, something rock, and then us hahaha. It’s everything we love, and we couldn’t be more siked”

You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi commented “We’re really happy to announce that we’ll be hitting Australia with our boys in Parkway Drive. The shows are going to be HUUUGGGEEE, so if you like either of our bands head down. Ripper!”

Joining Parkway Drive and You Me At Six on The Mix N’ Mash Tour  will be Orange County’s Bleeding Through, Philadelphia’s The Wonder Years and Melbourne’s Confession.

Tickets on sale Friday February 25.
